There were 2 adult male and 1 female Surf Scoters at the north end of the lake at Buck Creek this afternoon. The scoters were among 150 ducks, mostly Lesser Scaup with a few Greaters mixed in. This raft of ducks was in the water south (left)of where the road ends, and seeing this water requires trekking over or around the small peninsula of land to the south.

Among the 200+ Bonaparte's Gulls lining the opposite shore were 2 Caspian Terns.

The 2 Snow Geese (1 white, 1 immature blue) reported last week were still there.

The mudflats are still quite extensive but I only saw Killdeer and 6 Lesser Yellowlegs.

Waterfowl seen were:

Snow Goose 2 1 Adult white, 1 immature blue
Canada Goose 100
American Wigeon 1
Mallard 5
Blue-winged Teal 13
Northern Shoveler 11
Green-winged Teal 3
Ring-necked Duck 9
Greater Scaup 7
Lesser Scaup 120
Surf Scoter 3
Bufflehead 12
Red-breasted Merganser 35
Pied-billed Grebe 2
Horned Grebe 12

As mentioned in an earlier post, Grant Rd is closed to the south so this area must be accessed from the north.
