I drove my kid to school today. On the way back, I stopped by the area around Route 203 and the power substation. It's a small area with a few ponds, switch grass, and a spooky graveyard, but it holds some waterfowl none the less. It is marker #11 on my Gmap:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=111124962307056523138.00045ebeaba268177d1e7&ll=40.563373,-83.206673&spn=0.062857,0.153809&t=h&z=13

A pair of Trumpeter Swans nested there last year, and it looks to be the same pair are there right now. One has a green collar but I couldn't get a number on it.

While there I saw about 30 other waterfowl there
Most were Blue Wing Teal, a flock of a dozen or so.
There were also 4 Northern Shovel Shovelers, 8 Mallards and 4 Ringnecks.

Continuing home I checked out another little area that is just outside La Rue. I don't know if it's part of The Big Island Area or not, I can't remember at this time. It looks like it should be. It's marker #21 on the same map above.

A group of a dozen Green Wing Teal plus 25-30 Mallards have been hanging out there for the better part of a week, and they were there again today. I have seen Shovelers and Ringnecks there as well, but not today.

Well time to drive through this raging blizzard and get to work.

See you out there.

Happy Birding and God Bless

Psalm 103:4-6

4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

 6 The LORD works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
