This morning, I hit the Youth Pond, boat ramp and beach. At the youth pond, there were 5 Blue-winged Teal males and 2 females.

Off the boat ramp, towards the other side of the lake, swimming near 2 Canada Geese, was an imm. Common Loon. Closer to the boat ramp was a single female Greater Scaup.

A motorboat went through and I thought the loon would head out for good. That may have been the case, but the other side effect was that an adult Common Loon ended up swimming just 40 or so yards off the beach – fantastic looks, even if looking into the sun. I was too early for the gull, it seems, however, as the only four on the beach were Ring-billed.

Spring was also sealed for me, this morning, as I finally got a good photo of an Eastern Meadowlark.

Peace,

Phil
