Greetings birders!

For the past few days there have been dozens of WILSON'S SNIPE throughout
the Slate Run Wetlands. They are in the wet mowed and burned fields right
next to the trail in several different locations. They quickly flew off as
I approached, with their "zig zag" flight pattern, and also made many alert
calls while flying away.

A NORTHERN HARRIER was flying low over the wetland on Tuesday evening, and a
SANDHILL CRANE continues to hang around various ponds in the wetland. It's
been here for a few weeks now. Listen for it, too - you can hear it
throughout the wetland.

Ducks are in the south part of the wetland, but not visible from the trail.
I saw mallards, canada geese, blue-winged teal and a pair of green-winged
teal from the trail.

Naturalist office feeder birds seen this week include white-throated,
white-crowned, chipping, field, and song sparrows, juncos, three pairs of
towhees, and even a male purple finch.

Slate Run is part of the Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks.
Directions and information can be found at http://www.metroparks.net

Have a good day!
