Greetings to all!

While I had a great time at Magee Marsh this weekend, and would recomend it to everyone, I think that Mother's day weekend I'll just stay local. :-) Don't get me wrong, The birding was excellent and the booths were cool, I am just not a crowd person. :-) I did have a great time and saw a LOT of wonderful birds...Considering that last year I only was able to get one, a Yellow (I came in mid June), The list of Warblers this time around for the season was massive:

Tennessee Warbler
Nashville Warbler
Northern Parula
Yellow Warbler
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Black-throated Green Warbler
Blackburnian Warbler
Palm Warbler
Blackpoll Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
American Redstart
Prothonotary Warbler
Ovenbird
Common Yellowthroat
Hooded Warbler
Canada Warbler

All but a couple; the Canada, the Parula and the Blackburnian, I was able to get great pictures of and will post them at a later date...as soon as my computer is fixed...the power cord has bit the dust. :={

I have found that birding doesn't have to be all about the birds, sometimes a little fun can be had...especially when Canada is just over your shoulder. One person asked "Where's the Canada", facing the pond, I turned around and pointed to Lake Erie and said "Over there." After the "where, where...Oh you.." and the chuckle that ensued, I and a few others helped in locating the Canada Warbler.

The "Big Sit" was both a great aid and entertaining as well...especially when the Laughing Gull made an appearance. I thought that he was going to fall off of his ladder. :-D

The highlight bird for me was the Black Throated Blue Warbler. When I saw the first one, I wanted to get a picture...It took me a good hour to locate and photograph one...either leaves or camera issues prevented good shots being taken. HOWEVER, if I had been any quicker taking the pictures, I would have missed the Blackpole, Nashville, Common Yellowthroat, Northern Parula, Canada, and the Magnolia. So I'll take the trade. :-)

All in all a great day. But next year, I think that I'll come on a Monday instead...:-)

Happy Birding and God Bless

Steve

Matthew 13.31-32

"He told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches."
