Hi Birders,

Nick Boutis and I birded John Bryan State Park,
(near Yellow Springs and Clifton in Greene County)
this AM with some good results. The best bird was definitely
the Olive-sided Flycatcher seen in the tallest snag
in the upper picnic area, but too bad he got
in an argument with pair of Great-crested Flycatchers
and moved on. Other good birds included a few Bay-breasted
Warblers, a Cape May Warbler, a Kentucky Warbler, and
the Louisiana Waterthrushes along the Little
Miami River. 19 warbler species were totaled, including
a really odd late female Pine Warbler feeding low in
a cedar tree. I wonder if they might be trying to breed
in the nearby pine grove in Glen Helen?

Brown Creepers breed here, and one was singing loudly
from the upper picnic area at dawn.

Complete eBird list below, with precise
counts.

Good birding!

Tim Spahr
Fairborn (for another few days)
