Greetings from the edge of the Great Black Swamp (Northwest Ohio),

Yesterday my wife Micki heard a Le Conte's Sparrow singing in a grassy, weedy field next to the wetlands area at Black Swamp Audubon's sanctuary outside Antwerp, Ohio. This marks the first time we have gotten this species in Paulding County. Attempts to relocate the bird today have so far proved unsuccessful. We will try again tomorrow, hoping that the bird might stick around with the nasty weather this weekend.

Micki also heard a Dickcissel singing in the field west of our house. This is our earliest Dickcissel by nearly a week! Good things come in two's sometimes.

Bird long and prosper,
Doug & Micki Dunakin
Antwerp, OH
