Seven Black Terns flew directly in front of my car on Rt. 2 this afternoon, heading north into the Medusa marshes.  Perhaps they will stick around in this area.

No Kirtand's was seen between 4-6 PM, and the last known sighting was at 2.  A male Mourning Warbler in this area was at times quite obliging.

Since the North Coast Open has come and gone, I can now divulge a few other tidbits to the list!  In addition to extensive shorebird habitat at Pickerel Creek WA mentioned earlier, Willow Point WA also has some promising shorebird habitat.  A Willet was here Friday.  Also of interest to May Big Day teams - an impoundment at Pickerel Creek WA holds quite a few lingering ducks, scarce overall this year - pintail, black duck, shoveler, and Green-winged Teal.  You can see this area looking northeast, from the second pulloff to the east along Rt. 6.  At Pipe Creek, a pair of male scaups - one Greater, one Lesser - have been hanging out.  On Sat, a Least Bittern put on quite a show here, landing at the top of a willow shrub.
