There are 2 American Bitterns that are nesting there. I have photographed
them extensively. I was able to get within 10 ft. The least bittern has a
distinct sound of 3 knocks. I am there on a regular basis and have not heard
or seen it there. The green herons are around in the different watering
holes however they are loosing their habitat as the water drys up.
There are two different kinds of Sand pipers that are there as well.
Difficult to get a good ID on them. Will keep my eye out for the least.
Did you see it in the open meadow part or by the pond area closest to the
parking area? Lots of good birding in the park no matter where you go.
Blessings
Bob Herp
