New activity in our Wayne County yard includes me mulching and a red-phase Screech Owl that has been taking up residence in the same box that the gray one occupies each year from October to March.   This is the first red one I've ever seen.   It's much more active, (which of course for an owl means sitting and staring), during the day,  than the gray and is very wide-eyed and alert.  It's also much more unpredictable.   Many people have seen the gray one because it appeared every evening like clockwork, this one is more sporadic.

In addition, I found a Hummingbird nest in the beech trees.  Locating a hummer nest has his become my new yearly challenge!   Scarlet Tanager and Indigo Bunting were new additions yesterday as well.  Still waiting for my favorite bird.... Yellow-billed Cuckoo.
