I was lazy this morning and since, as Gabe mentioned, PIPL's are usually One day wonders, I decided not to go. Then when I got to work I saw Gabe's post that the bird was still at the location reported before on Wilderness Road, at the pond north of the road frest earth and peat exposed from work in the area. I ran up there after work and arrived at 7:45pm and was looking somewhat frantically for the bird and finally found it at 8:00pm. It stood out like a ghost, pale tan. The Bird was at the northern end of the pond and feeding actively up until 8:30pm when I left. I watched it for about half an hour as it flew back and forth, ran around at high speed, bathed, preened, and nabbed some earthworms. I was able to make out the red band Gabe mentioned. On my way home I was treated to a surprisingly colorful pink sunset in the mostly overcast skies. The bird may stick around, hard to say. I believe they are nocturnal migrants. Also there in the n. end were about a dozen mixed Yell
owlegs, a Least Sandpiper, and 4 Spotted Sandpipers, as well as Killdeer. I also saw a few Great Blues and heard and saw some Sandhill Cranes.?

?? ? ?Nice to get a new statebird, especially such a gem of a shorebird,?
