Hello Ohio birders,

You are all invited to the Findley State Park blockbusting weekend, June 11, 12, 13, 14th. What is blockbusting? It's similar to a Christmas Bird Count, but focused on summer nesting birds. Basically, multiple teams of birders spreading out over an area to watch birds.

Fri, Sat and Sunday mornings we will meet at Wellington Nature Center (Lorain County Metro Parks) at 7:30 am. We'll split into teams and bird a few priority blocks for the Ohio Breeding Bird Atlas (OBBAII).

Lunch will be from 11:30-1:00 at the Burger King in Wellington. Volunteers are needed to help enter sightings into the OBBAII online database. Contact me if your interested.

See this website for details, field trips and overnight options: http://www.blackriveraudubon.org/

We need your help if your a beginning or experienced birder; if you've never atlased before or own an atlas block; if you participate in one field trip, or stay for the weekend.

Could Crossbills or Siskens nest at Findley? Do Long Eared Owls nest at Caley? Will the Clay Colored/Field Sparrow cross return to Charlemont? Will I finally get my lifer Vesper Sparrow? Join us as we discover what birds we find and how many we can confirm as nesting.

For more information on Atlasing see: http://ohiobirds.org/obba2/

Birding counts,
