Hello birders,

The Ohio Breeding Bird Atlas II (OBBA2) website has precious little breeding bird data for the area around Fort Hill Historic Site and adjoining Pike State Forest, despite it being a rich area with old, tall canopied forest. I was censusing in the area recently and found cerulean warblers, Kentucky warblers, black and white warblers and other migratory forest bird species that are in decline. I will be adding my observations to the website today, but surely there must be somebody out there that has more existing data and historical data. The Arc of Appalachia Preserve System, a nonprofit conservation organization in Southern Ohio, is applying for grants to purchase land around this site to expand the protected natural area and needs more nesting data on migratory forest bird species for the grant proposals.

The most relevant OBBA2 block, 77D5NE has no data yet at all, neither for the current round nor for the 1980's round. The other two most important blocks to us, 77C5SE and 77C6SW, have only about 20 nesting species listed after less than 2 hours effort in each. Any one have anything that could help us?? One of the grant deadlines is approaching rapidly.

Thanks!

Bruce
