On Monday afternoon 4 of us (Joyce Stevens, Dave Kuseyeski, Tim & Laura Dornan) traveled from Stark County to Harrison County in hopes of finding the UPSAs.  After a short visit to the Coal Miners Museum in Cadiz (worth the visit if you are already there) & a very good meal at, of all places, the Harrison Co. Hospital, we drove to the site where the sandpipers are found.  We were a 1/2 early for the recommended best times to see them but as we were driving down the dirt road we saw 2 in the road in front of us; they flew a short distance into the field & then we found 2 more at the end of the cul de sac.  We stayed there for about a 1/2 hour & had several more sightings but don't know if they were the same or different birds.

While we were watching the birds, Scot Pendleton arrived & said we might also be able to find Vesper Sparrows over by the airport; another bird I need for my state bird list, so we went in search of it.  Spent about 45 min. at the airport but didn't have any luck with the sparrows.  So we went back to see the sandpipers once more before we left & again did not have to wait long before we had good looks at them.  All in all a very satisfactory visit to Cadiz that gave Tim & I a state bird & gave Dave & Joyce a life bird.
