Twice now I have found Chipping Sparrow nests with dead babies.  I wonder if it is the same pair as the nests are n close proximity and the first next was found about a month ago (during our spring cold snap).  The first nestlings were pretty young while the second nestlings were close to fledging.

Any suggestions as to the reason for these sad events?  I hear still "Chippers" around the house, but have no way of knowing if these are the same parents and, last year they had at least one successful nesting.
