Monday, June 15, we decided to bird at H.N.P. hoping for dickcissels,
grasshopper sparrows, and savannah sparrows that were so abundant last year.
No luck with those, but still had a good day including one special "cute"
surprise.

Field sparrow
Common yellowthroat
American robin
Blue grosbeak - f
Red-winged blackbird
Carolina wren
Brown-headed cowbird
Northern cardinal
TV
Rough-winged and tree swallows
Chimney swift
Mallard
Song sparrow
Common grackle
Chipping sparrow
European starling
American crow
American goldfinch
House finch
Mourning dove
House sparrow
Willow flycatcher
Grasshopper sparrow (singing only)
Tufted titmouse
Eastern towhee
Carolina chickadee
And last, but not least, 'Mother' pied-billed grebe with one young. TOO
CUTE !

We decided to take a quick drive around the north side of the Dayton
International Airport "ha, ha, ha". We were not accosted this time by the bird
police and managed to scrounge up 4 dickcissels, 1 eastern meadowlark, 1
grasshopper sparrow, and 1 spotted sandpiper with young and then beat a fast
retreat before capture.
