Some good news and some bad about this north Columbus Park. First the good: I had a pair of Hooded Warblers there today, and the female was carrying food to a hidden nestling. Woodward does have a wonderful forest, but it is a 20+ acre fragment smack dab in the middle of urban north Columbus, so it's not exactly a magnet for woodland warblers. It's truly wonderful to see these birds give this natural area their stamp of approval.

Now the bad: some neighborhood kids have gouged up one of the trails to make a dirt bike jump. It seems that all of the community outreach done to convince the neighborhood what a fantastic natural area Woodward remains has just not quite reached everyone. That's a shame, but the real shame will be if this change isn't quickly removed. We need a few people with picks and shovels to immediately flatten these jumps, or we risk having some neighborhood people start to abuse the park in myriad ways.
