A few additions to Jay Lehman's post. The dirt cul-de-sac is county owned. The birds are seen
almost daily after 7 PM. If not seen here, proceed east and drive between the next two buildings on
the right (one is a mine training center). Drive to the end of the access road and look in the field in
front of you and in the cleared area to your left. THe airport is directly in front of you. They are not
routinely seen at the airport but on the hills around it.
A Dickcissell was photographed in this same spot last week and myself and another local watcher
have seen what we believe to be a Lark Sparrow, an independent confirmation would be nice. In
addition to Grashopper Sparrows, you can also hear Henslow's, Savannah, and Vesper Sparrows at or
near this area.
