After reading about the airport fracas in Manasfield, I thought I should add a note about Harrison Co
airport and the UPSA's. Even though they understand the rarity and significance of the birds, they are
not overly birder friendly for the following reason: In 2007 when the UPSA's were posted, they were
visited by several birders. One of which apparently got confused and drove up a taxi road and down
the runway while a plane was coming in for a landing! A disaster was narrowly averted only because
the pilot saw the car. This is a true story. The airport is keeping their grass mowed close and the
birds are rarely seen there this year. Once again, please be on the lookout for a Lark Sparrow
