Heather Raymond and I must have just missed Jason, but we did not miss the
Ibis at about 4:30. Also present were a pair of solitary sandpipers, plenty
of killdeer, a common yellowthroat, and other species to be expected in this
habitat.
A highlight (in addition to the ibis) was a spectacular aerial display by
two immature red-tailed hawks who chased each other across the sky with much
stooping and soaring. The flight displays became even more intense when mom
showed up with a prey item in her talons: the youngsters were certain that
they should be fed and chased the long-suffering adult all over the place
trying to make their point.
