I spent about 15 hours at Conneaut harbor over the last 2 days.  Both days I arrived around 11:00 AM.  Shorebird movement has been much more obvious in the afternoons than in early mornings so far this month.  There are usually only a handfull of shorebirds on the ground at any one time.  I ended up with 12 species over the 2 days:  killdeer, semipalmated plover, willet, greater yellowlegs, lesser yellowlegs, spotted sandpiper, sanderling, semipalmated sandpiper, least sandpiper, pectoral sandpiper, stilt sandpiper, and short-billed dowitcher.  Noteworthy were counts of 10 sanderlings and 13 stilt sandpipers on 7/21, and a total of 15 willets on 7/22.  There were plenty of other good birds around too:  blue-winged teal, wood duck, 2 least bitterns (1 juv.), green herons, great egret, bald eagles, Caspian terns, Forster's tern, belted kingfisher, purple martins, up to 350+ bank swallows, cliff swallow, marsh wrens, and migrant yellow warblers.
 Later, Craig
