While working on a construction project at the west approach to Port Columbus Airport I have had the opportunity to observe what I consider interesting Mourning Dove behavior. In this nearly treeless enviroment, I have encountered three dove nests, all in a depression on the ground, all in the about one foot high, grassy slopes approaching the new bridges. Makes you wonder with all the doves seen along the airport perimeter fences if this is commonplace here!
