First of all, thanks to everyone for the replies regarding the Downy.

Second, I got to see the Yellow Crowns today! Yay! Dad was driving up to visit us so I went down to great him...of course I arrived 4 hours ahead of time...what should I do to pass the time..hmmmm.. I know I'll go check for Yellow Crown Night Herons. When I got to Academy Park, it was a little overcast I walked across that EVIL foot bridge (Have I mentioned that I get motion sickness easily? :-D) A Juvenile dropped (glided really) out of one of the Sycamores, and then flew out of view.

I turned around and the other Juvi (Or it could have been the first, I didn't see if it doubled back or not.) Landed on a snag in full view. I was still on the foot bridge with my camera TRYING to take some pictures as soon as I get it in focus, a jogger would come bouncing by. :-D So I moved to the Wolf Park side of the river and found a more stable platform an witch to take pictures...The Heron actually helped out and landed down in the water and did a little posing for me. Ten minutes later, dad was here and the Heron was gone. We came back late in the day and the Juveniles were flying between the trees, preening and waiting it seemed for all of the dogs and kids to head home.

We never saw the Adults. We waited until dusk but they never showed. Oh well, I got some cute Juvi pics :-) The pictures can be found here: http://s153.photobucket.com/albums/s226/sjlarue/Birds/ .

Happy Birding and God Bless

Psalm 103:4-6

4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

 6 The LORD works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
