What a day in St. Mary's today. First I went to the Miami/Erie canal just south of the traction line off Cleveland St. There right off we ran into 2 Golden Winged Warblers ,,, got a few so-so pics but got a good positive ID on it .. a life bird for me.We walked all the way to the other side of rt 33 via the tunnel there and we saw regulars such as chickadee's , lots of robins , blue herons , indigo buntings , and past 33 we seen some great crested flycathchers. WE then went to the fish hatchery and there seen kingfisher , 2 green herons geese , gulls , mallards , blue herons. WE then went to the Mercer county wildlife area and see lots of geese ,, blue herons , ducks and lideers. Also some shorebirds that I wasn't able to ID as we didn't have a spotting scope. Then we went over to rt 127 and there is a bay area there ,,, not a good view but we did find an opening and saw 2 white pelicans , 3 great egrets , an osprey, 6 blue herons and a 4th great egret at a pond channel like area on 127. The golden winged warbler had to be the best find . Planning on goin' back tomorrow in hopes to get a reallly good photo of them. Russell Lima,Ohio
