Hi All-

I spent a couple of days kayaking on Nimisilia Reservoir and on Turkeyfoot Lake in the Portage Lakes system south of Akron.  On Saturday, I was on Nimisilia and had many great sightings.  On the north end of the lake, I had a tree full of DC Cormorants.  At least 13 plus more floating on the lake. Also found a group of Green Herons--6 juvs and 1 adult in the same area.  Got many good photos of the juvs.  On the other side of the lake, I found 2 adults and 3 juvs, so breeding was good on Nimisilia for the Green Herons.Would these juvs be from nests here or are they migrants?? Had 4 Ospreys in a tree on the large island --a spray of Ospreys. I then went to the south end of the lake to view the Purple Martins coming in to roost for the night in the cattails.  WHAT A GREAT THING!!!!!!  The Akron Beacon Journal did a front page article about the roost in Saturdays paper (8-15) with quotes from our own Jim McCormac . I have posted a 6 min. video on
youtube.com--do a search for browncreeper53 for my videos of the roost, last years roost, the Wood Storks from last year, and a "Tin Goose".

On Monday-I was on Turkeyfoot Lake and besides many adult Green Herons, saw a juv Black-crowned Night Heron.  I flushed it and it flew into a tree.  I was at first hoping it was a juv Am Bittern--until it dawned on me that it flew INTO a tree.  Not something a Bittern would do.  Got some cool photos of it also.

I have also posted some pix on the Ohio Birding forum.

Check out the videos on youtube.com---  again--look under browncreeper53

Good birding to all-
