At about 7:15 this evening (Sunday, 9/13), my husband Ed and I saw an
adult little blue heron at Three Creeks Metro Park. It was at the
same pond that the juvenile little blue heron was spotted several
weeks ago: on the pond off the bike path south of Williams Road. We
watched it land, and stayed to view it for about 7 or 8 minutes; it
was still there when we left. It was cattle egret sized (easy to tell
since it landed near a great egret), and a lovely, vivid indigo blue
with a somewhat more purplish head and neck; we've seen many of them
in Florida and Texas, and so are quite certain of what we were viewing.
