Hello from "The Midwest Birding Symposium"; some after thoughts and additions to the Northern Wheatear saga. Emery Yoder informed me last night, (thursday) that our celebrity friend had not been seen in the last two days. He did still have five hopeful visitors yesterday. Of the birders they hosted that signed the guest log, 581 succeeded and 47 did not! After the previous attendance post, I received several e-mails from visitors that had not signed the log. They were all going to send personal thank yous to the Yoder Family. It is very possible that 650 individuals came to the Holmes County site. Emery also noted that two additional states, Texas and Maryland, were represented, bringing the total to eight. Other were Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Mighigan, Indiana, and South Carolina. It will be hard to top this bird in Ohio in 2009. On a liittle bit of a negative note, Emery commented that his last visitor was mumbling profanity to himself as he was leaving, there always has to be one!! See you in the field.

Bob Lane
