I was at Conneaut harbor from 2:00--7:00 PM today.  The pool out on the sandspit is dried up now, as L. Erie continues to drop.  Some shorebirds were still feeding there.  After the windsurfers packed up and left, gulls and other birds collected along the north shore of the spit.  The lagoon area is also attracting birds.  Seen today:  2 wood ducks, common merganser (FOS), 2 pied-billed grebes, 2 great egrets, green heron, 4 black-crowned night-herons, osprey, 3 black-bellied plovers, semipalmated plovers, 2 Am. avocets, sanderlings, semipalmated sandpiper, least sandpipers, pectoral sandpiper, buff-breasted sandpiper, 2 lesser black-backed gulls, great black-backed gull, and Caspian terns.  The avocets arrived at 4:40 and were still there when I left.  The buff-breasted sandpiper put down for a couple minutes around 6:15.  It gave a brief one-winged display before taking off to the east.  Later, Craig
