I went over to see the Avocet at Caesar Creek SP beach that was
originally found by Rick Asamoto. I met Shane Egleston at the beach
about 5:30 and the bird was still on the beach along with the other
birds that Larry mentioned. Shane and I were watching the avocet when
some crows calling in the distance scared all of the birds off of the
beach. While waiting for the birds to return to the beach we scanned the
gulls on the lake. Shane located the avocet swimming with the gulls
about 200 yards from the shore. Through the cope we could see that it
was actively feeding. This is the first time either of us had seen an
avocet swimming.
