This morning I decided to walk my apartment complex grounds (behind
Polaris Towne Center) to see what I could see. Afterwards I walked down
to Lazelle Woods Park.
Between the two places, I only saw six species of warblers but their
numbers were impressive. There were adult males and females with
juveniles in tow.
There were also Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks at both stops. Behind Polaris,
there were at least six first years and one adult.
The Yellow-Bellied Sapsuckers and White-Throated Sparrows haven't returned
to Lazelle Woods yet. Last year, I saw both species there on 9/21.
Here is the complete list with the loacation in parentheses. BP=behind
Polaris Towne Center; LW=Lazelle Woods; BL=Both locations.

* Based on their song, I thought the chickadee behind Polaris was a Black-
Capped Chickadee but I have heard that relying on song to differentiate
between the two is not always acurate because they learn one and others
songs where their ranges overlap. The chickadees I saw at Lazelle Woods
were definitely Carolina Chickadees.

** I only saw one but I heard several others singing.

*** Only one seen or heard.
