Yesterday in downtown Cleveland, there was more birding activity than usual in Public Square. A mini-fallout was foreshadowed in the morning when I saw a male Hooded Warbler in the NE quadrant while walking briskly into the office at about 8:00am. I took my time during a brief walk across the Square for lunch and was able to identify Northern Parula (first fall female), American Redstart, and Common Yellowthroat plus Lincoln's Sparrow with the many White-throated Sparrows. There was at least one Northern Flicker also seen in the quadrant. Finally, I stopped in the same quadrant while waiting for my bus around 6:00pm and found a Magnolia, a Black-and-white, and a Cape May Warbler (first fall female). A Gray Catbird was also seen.
Have a great migration.
