Central Ohioans, enjoy your Franklin's Gulls while you've got 'em! I had no luck locating any in Lorain/Huron/Erie Co. today.

Starting a bit south of the lake, I checked Oberlin, Wellington, New London, and Norwalk Reservoirs on the way to Huron, but turned up a mere four Ruddy Ducks and 104 coots. At Huron, the winds varied to from moderate to strong west-southwest, and little passed on the lake, besides two pintail.

Decent shorebirding was actually the highlight of the trip. Lots of shorebirds remain on the Huron River flats, visible from River Rd. near Jefferies, though I warn that none are close and the best vantage is standing on the railroad tracks. Here three lateish Stilt Sandpipers joined 25 L. Yellowlegs, 15 Pecs, 10 Semi Plovers, and a Long-billed Dowitcher. On to Cedar Point Causeway, where water levels continue to recede and three buffy young American Golden-Plovers were the highlight.

Good birding -
Gabe Leidy
