I got back to some local patch birding the last few days here in NE Mahoning Co.  Of interest were 3 migrant c. nighthawks, pileated woodpecker, e. wood-pewees, e. phoebe, red-eyed vireo, Carolina wren, e. bluebirds, n. mockingbird, Nashville warbler, scarlet tanager, and rose-breasted grosbeak.  This morning a ruby-throated hummingbird visited our backyard vegetable garden.  Yesterday 9/5 I visited Berlin Res. (Stark Co. portion).  I covered the whole area between the Deer Creek dam past the Price St. bridge and up to the Rte. 225 bridge.  Birds included wood ducks, double-crested cormorants, 8 great egrets, 2 bald eagles, 100 killdeer, 3 semipalmated plovers, 30 lesser yellowlegs, 3 solitary sandpipers, 10 semipalmated sandpipers, 30 least sandpipers, pectoral sandpiper, e. phoebe, 3 warbling vireos, red-eyed vireo, and scarlet tanager.  In the afternoon/early evening of 9/5 I hit Conneaut harbor.  Birds there included blue-winged teal, 2 soras,
10 juv. sanderlings, 3 juv. Baird's sandpipers, 3 juv. stilt sandpipers, and Caspian terns.  Later, Craig
