I was in a marshy area yesterday and saw something brown skulking around the
cattails and weeds near a culvert. I assumed it was a wren but it was a
sparrow. It had a dark grey breast/belly that was extremely mottled with
dark brown and darker grey blotches.
Nothing streaky just quite dark overall and randomly blotchy with the
blotchy being small blotches. Other than that
mostly what I can remember is a slight eyering and a distinctly forked tail
that seemed sort of long and an undistingished
head (brown and grey). Near as I can figure is a juvenile song sparrow.
Anyone?

Mary, Fairborn
