Adding to the spate of early Red-br.Nuthatches, I found one along the Big Walnut Greenway here in Gahanna this morning. It's the earliest that I've found them in central Ohio, but not by much. I've had several records in the 2nd week of Sept before, presumably of migrants passing through on the way to some wintering grounds down in the southern Appalachians or Cumberland plateau.

It was the highlight of a rather subdued morning for a clear September day. Migrants were not very common, but I was able to scrounge up a few Pewees, some Catbirds, a trio of Indigo Buntings, and 4 warbler species (Bl.-thr.Green, Blackburnian, Magnolia, Black&White), along with the normal residents. This paralleled a low number of night migrants the prior evening; in a half hour, I only heard 3 migrants.
