I went on some bird walks with a group of people this morning and there was no abundance of warblers seen along the lake. I believe the winds were out of the northeast in Cleveland today.  According to AccuWeather the winds between 10 to 5pm today in Huron ranged between WNW, NW, WNW, W, NNW, & NW..  So that tells us where we should of been.  So then I went to Wildwood State Park on the east side of Cleveland and Sims Park in Euclid and saw less warblers than the bird walks and this was in the afternoon. One warbler at Sims & three at Wildwood. Best birds were the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks:

Sims Park - Euclid 12:30 - 1:30pm
Black-and-White Warbler 1
Swainsons Thrush 1

Wildwood State Park - Cleveland 1:50 - 5:45pm
Wilson's Warbler 1, Nashville 1, American Redstart 1
Swainsons Thrush 1, Hairy Woodpeckers 2,
American Robins - many

Rose-breasted Grosbeaks - 3 (there was probably a fourth) mixture of 1st winter males, female & more advanced male. These birds were on the east side of the field north of the library near the fence - in a tree with black berries behind a bird house on a short pole - they would fly away to other trees when I got too close and then return to the same tree. I first saw them around 2pm and they were there an hour & half later. So I finally drove to the library/recycling area (outside the park) and parked near the fence line and pulled out the scope and then I didn't seem to bother them.  So I finally left the recycling area at 5:45pm and they were finally leaving as the sun left the tree. I often see Grosbeaks in this field during migration but they are usually very skittish and usually disappear. This is the first time I have seen them so long.
