Today was just too nice not to bird somewhere so we headed for the Fish Hatchery at Grand Lake St. Mary's. Only one large pond had shorebirds but the previously reported
WILSON'S PHALAROPE was all ove it while we were there. Other species besides a large humber of Killdeer were Least and Pectoral Sandpipers along with several Lesser Yelllowlegs and Dunlin. At the last minute we decided to stop at the Mercer Wildlife area and saw sixteen WHITE-FRONTED GEESE all lined up in the sunlight. Another birding couple had told us some were there but seeing so many was the icing on the cake.
Happy Birder Cheers, Larry Gara
