Yesterday I visited several lakes in Mahoning Co.  An adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was among a large gull gathering at Evans L. that also had 2000 ring-bills and 100+ herrings.  The only Bonaparte's gulls for the day weren't there, but instead at the Berlin Res. Rte. 224 causeway.  Small flocks of ruddy ducks were at 4 different lakes.  Other birds of interest: wood ducks, Am. wigeon, green-winged teal, common loon, pied-billed grebes, double-crested cormorants, killdeers, greater yellowlegs, Am. kestrels, belted kingfisher, n. flickers, Carolina wren, e. bluebirds, n. mockingbird, field sparrows, swamp sparrow, white-crowned sparrows, and 15 rusty blackbirds.  Great to hear and see rusty blackbirds again, it seems like that happens way too little anymore in this part of the state.  Later, Craig
