First thing this morning, I recieved a report from Emil Bacik: two RED PHALAROPES were again present at Conneaut Harbor, and had been joined by a Red-necked Phalarope, and the Brant was still there, too.  Just as significantly, the Red Phalaropes had just become Emil's 300th Ohio bird of the year - with three solid months of birding time remaining!

After work I headed out that way, and spent a wonderful hour and a half enjoying the pair of Red Phalaropes at close range, as they fed in the surf right along the beach.  They hung out around the northwest sandspit and the entrance road to the beach the whole time, and at least one bird was still there when I left.  Both birds appeared to be molting adults and one was darker on the crown and hindneck and still retaining many black coverts.  Photos are up here:

The Red-necked Phalarope was nowhere to be found, but the Brant continued this afternoon - tucked against the breakwall quite a ways out.  If you don't see this bird at first, try thoroughly scoping the breakwall throughly.  Other shorebirds included American Golden-Plover and Dunlin (3).
