 Hi all,
??? I hit several areas along the lake today, and was well rewarded.
First stop was the Wake Robin Trail at Mentor Marsh. There were a ton of sparrows here! Amidst the masses of Song and Swamp, I managed to find:
Lincoln's- 2
Nelson's- 2 at least maybe 4 (hard to tell if I was seeing the same bird farther down)
Savannah- 1
White-throated- 2
White-crowned- 1
unidentified Ammodramus- 1 (looked good for LeConte's, but it was a really quick look, from far away, in flight)
A lateish House Wren lurking in the phragmites with the Marsh Wrens and sparrows was interesting too

Next was Headlands Dunes, where a nice stinging rain and whipping winds added to the fun of finding nothing out of the ordinary. I did find a first year Greater Black-backed Gull in the Harbor.

Finally, I headed to Conneaut Harbor. I found most of what Mark V. reported earlier, minus the Red Phalaropes. The Red-necked Phal, Brant, and Common Mergs all offered some nice looks though.

Good birding,

Steve Landes
