Chimney Swifts appear to be almost gone, if you go by day sightings.  We had only 1 on a Saturday morning Audubon hike around Alum Lake & Hoover Reservoir.  I had none all of yesterday morning.  Both evenings, though, had full roosts.  On Saturday, over 700 birds split between 2 roosts in downtown Westerville, while yesterday saw 1800+ in a huge roost in Gahanna.  These birds appear not to be feeding locally, and may in fact be in passage.  Since October is the main month for swift migrants in the South, they may be gone in a few days.  You might want to check your local roosts in the next few days to see the last of these mysterious little birds.
