Excellent point! In addition to these nicely created species lists that can
be forwarded to whomever, you're contributing actual data to an ever growing
set of valuable avian data. In roughly the same time it takes to type out a
species list for a post to a listserve, you could likely have entered the
data into eBird. Killing two electronic birds with one mouse....or
whatever...
In addition, once you start compiling your own personal database within
eBird, you can generate reports that are useful for sending to regional
compilers of seasonal bird reports like those in *The Ohio Cardinal* and *North
American Birds*.
