I was at Darby Bend Lakes, Prairie Oaks Park, along Amity Rd. in western Franklin Co. around 4:00 p.m. this afternoon and saw what I thought might have been a common loon. There was just one and he was swimming in the southern-most pond. He had a white neck and sides, with a white patch on the wing area. His bill looked to be dark, but I was a considerable distance from him. I haven't seen many with winter plummage. Would this be a common loon?
