Tuesday, Nov. 24:
Today we visited Eastwood Lake and Huffman Metropark, and observed 3
eagles' nests in the area. For those not familiar with this area, these sites
are side by side by side along Ohio Route 4.
Common loon - 1
Pied-billed grebes - 2
Belted kingfisher
Ring-billed gull
Hooded mergansers - 8
Mallards
Canada geese
Killdeer
American 'robins'
House finches
Dark-eyed juncos
Carolina chickadees
Downy and red-bellied woodpeckers
Northern flicker
European starlings
Northern cardinals
Cedar waxwings
Mourning doves
Carolina wrens
Bald eagle
We ran into an old friend 'Robin' Fell. She told us about 2 mature bald
eagles that were building 2 more nests in the area in addition to the failed
nest from last year ! We wonder whether these are the same 2 eagles or 2
new ones. *Who can tell ?* There is hope to establish a videocam at the
site. Efforts are being made by an organization to obtain funding to do so.
Good birding,
Ed and Bev Neubauer, Robin Fell
**Rhetorical question.
