Birders,

Mr. Jacob Kanagy, the host of the adult male Rufous Hummingbird near Shreve,
Wayne Co., told me that there was an active Barn Swallow nest near there as
well last week.

In Michigan, where I have most of my experience, I would not expect Barn
Swallows to be on nests later than early August as they start flocking
during that month, and are very rare anywhere in the state after late
September.

Subject: [Ohio-birds] Nesting Barn Swallows

Had a report last night of a pair of nesting Barn Swallows at a farm barn in
Bunkerhill. Mike Hershberger was there Sunday and saw the nest with the
young.
According to the home owner they hatched last week. I don't know what the
latest nesting record is for Ohio, but I would guess these guys would beat
it
easily.
