I went up to Conneaut harbor yesterday.  There was a decent movement of waterfowl in the early morning, but most of the birds were way out over L. Erie and went unidentified.  The only shorebird was a single dunlin.  The best action was around the public beach/park area just west of the sandspit, where snow buntings were putting on a show.  Highlights at Conneaut were: gadwalls, n. pintail, n. shovelers, Am. black ducks, lesser scaup, c. goldeneyes, hooded mergansers, red-breasted mergansers, c. loon, double-crested cormorants, great blue heron, 3 black-crowned night-herons, bald eagle, Cooper's hawk, dunlin, Bonaparte's and great black-backed gulls, Am. pipit, 80 snow buntings, and 2 Lapland longspurs.  Next I went west to Ashtabula, where I found 8 tundra swans, bufflehead, c. loon, pied-billed grebes, d-c cormorants, and more Bonaparte's gulls.  In the afternoon I stopped at Mosquito L.  The water level is up a little more there, and the throng
of waterbirds is not as impressive as previously.  Birds there included Am. black ducks, gadwalls, Am. wigeon, n. shovelers, green-winged teal, bufflehead, hooded mergansers, ruddy ducks, c. loon, horned grebe, 2 killdeer, 50 dunlin, and increased numbers of Bonaparte's gulls.  Later, Craig
