Yesterday I spent much of the morning hiking around this Reynoldsburg/SE Columbus MetroPark. The mild morning brought out lots of resident birds, and numbers of woodpecker, titmice, chickadees, and nuthatches were quite high. Migrants, however, were scarce, so we must be in the 'long tail' of Fall Migrants at the end of landbird migration. Notables included:

Wood Ducks - at least 9 graced the Nature Center Pond, and naturalist Diana had mentioned that 9-10 had been there for several days.

Blue Jays - 16-20 on the morning, which is a good number for this park. Acorn crop seemd very good, so they might stick around and grow in numbers.

Brown Creeper - 4-5 was a good number for this secretive late migrant.

Sparrows - a Fox Sparrow was scuffling in leaves near the Nature Center feeders, a location that has been very reliable for them in recent years. A Towhee and 2-3 Field Sparrows were lingering in the fields at the eastern end of the multi-use trail loop.
