I hope someone can help me in identifying a bird that was at my feeder just an hour ago. My first impulse was that it was a Snow Bunting female, but since I've never seen one before, I'm just not sure. It was about the size of a sparrow, but fluffier with brown back and wings. The edges of the wings were decidedly white and it had a white edging on the tale. The beak was light brown and the feet looked dark. The feeder was over 50 feet away, soI was unable to see really well. The breast was a buff color and fluffy.

The sad part of this story is that while I was watching it, it started to fly away from the feeder and a Cooper's Hawk swooped down and grabbed it in mid-air and flew off with it. Boy was I stunned. First time I've ever seen that so close to my house.

I hope someone out there can help me. I know there's a really good identification website, but I couldn't find it. Any info would be appreciated.
