Species in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS ARE REVIEW LIST SPECIES. Details of these sightings are desired by the Ohio Bird Records Committee. Careful observation, not ornithological expertise, is the only qualification for submitting your data. For details and pointers see: http://www.ohiobirds.org/records/documentation.php

Greater White-fronted Goose: ~25 passed over Valley City, Medina Co. 4 Nov (Gabe Leidy).

Harlequin Duck: Three flybys were recorded in the Mentor-area during the past week (Emil Bacik, Jerry Talkington), including an adult male trailing a flock of 45 Snow Geese.

White-winged Scoter: A cooperative bird north of Burke Lakefront Airport was a highlight of 8 Nov’s Lake Erie pelagic trip.

Northern Goshawk: A gos passed Sylvania, Lucas Co. 4 Nov (Rick Nirschl).

Golden Eagle: Rick Nirschl tallied two Golden Eagles as part of a small hawk passage over Sylvania, Lucas Co. 4 Nov.

American Avocet: One bird continued at Mosquito Lake 1 Nov (Craig Holt).

Hudsonian Godwit: A single godwit visited flats exposed along the Crane Creek estuary at Ottawa NWR 5 Nov (Tom Kemp).

PARASITIC JAEGER: An adult, light-morph passed delighted observers aboard the boat The Holiday 8 Nov on a BSBO & Discovery Tours-sponsored Cleveland lakefront “pelagic.” The bird came in from the west, buzzed a Bonaparte’s congregation off Dike 14’s east side and headed back west along the shoreline (Kenn Kaufman, Gabe Leidy, John Pogacnik, m.ob.).

Black-legged Kittiwake: Also observed on the Lake Erie pelagic 8 Nov was a first-winter kittiwake off Edgewater SP, consorting with a group of Bonaparte’s. This bird flew out of sight to the west (Kenn Kaufman, Gabe Leidy, John Pogacnik).

Northern Saw-whet Owl: As of 6 Nov, Kelly Williams-Seig had netted 22 birds at the Chillicothe banding station.

Ruby-throated Hummingbird: One lingers at the Cincinnati-area feeder of Debra Hausrath through 9 Nov.

RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD: Su Snyder reports that the adult male hosted by the Kanagy family in Shreve has moved along, though 200 visitors were hosted since 24 Oct. Thanks Kanagys!

Northern Shrike: A bird returned to Greg Emmert’s Homerville, Medina Co. property on 31 Oct; contact Greg privately at [log in to unmask] to arrange a visit.

Barn Swallow: Reports surfaced of a nest in Bunker Hill, Holmes Co. active through at least 3 Nov, and believed to be the latest on record (Bobolink-area RBA, Paul Hershberger).
