At 11:45 this morning, Susan Jones and I, along with bird-magnet Tom
Bartlett, saw the Allen's Hummingbird in Sugarcreek. Mrs. Miller greeted us
at the door with news that the bird had been seen twice already. Waiting 20
minutes in 19-degree temperatures was nothing for this rarity.

Also seen in the area, south of Marshallville, we watched a parade of Wild
Turkeys crossing a frozen lake. We estimated their numbers at 32 birds. In
addition, we saw more than a half dozen American Kestrels in the area,
including three perched together on the saw utility wire.
